I have been training a puppy.     I hope all the frustration is worth it.

The old 9.9 Johnson motor has been getting a little work as well.  It seems every season it breaks on opening day.  This year, I expect different.  I really need a new one, but can't see spending $2K on a boat motor.

Only four more months until teal season.  I can't wait.

I went to one of my hunting spots yesterday to look around.  The lake level is down a bunch and approximately 100 yards of shoreline is exposed.

The good news is, the exposed shoreline is full of vegetation.  If I get a bunch of rain in early fall, duck season should be pretty good.

I jumped about 10 mallards, guess they are too lazy to fly north and will spend the summer in Oklahoma.

Going to my favorite spot next week to look around.  Can never start scouting too early.

I have been doing a little pistol and rifle shooting. Or maybe I should have said trying to learn how to pistol and rifle shoot.
It won't be long and we will be starting to get the decoys ready.

Bill,
What are you shooting for pistol & rifle. I shoot up at Mid-West near Lacon, are you close to that range?

Sx2,
I am quite aways from Lacon. The range I use is about 25 miles southwest of Champaign. I won't be going prairie doggin' this year so I have been shooting paper to make up for it. On the rifle side I have mostly been shooting .17HMR, .223, and the ol' M1 Garand in 30-06. In pistols, I am now down to 4 calibers .357 mag, .45 ACP, Makarov 9x18, and 7.62x25.
What are you shooting up at Lacon?
