I have painted the barrels of my wife's Steven's 311 20 ga. I used Handirifle's process (see below) with a couple of slight changes.
1) I used Plastikote paint rather than Rustoleum. And went for gloss because she likes things shiny :-)
2) I 'baked' the barrels after the priming and again after the final coat.
Here are some pics of the process - sorry, I didn't think to take 'before' pics, just thought of the camera after I had primed the first coat
Primed barrels in the oven - just fit so the door would close! I whittled a Q-tip stick down to fit in the bead sight hole. Can barely be seen in this pic.
Yours truly spraying the black over the primer (after 'baking' at 180 for a couple of hours). Had to find a time to do it when my apartment neighbors were not out front barbequeing! Ended up being Sunday morning.
The finished product all put back together.
Finally, my wife's almost favorite pic of the thing, showing the shiny receiver (I polished the heck out of it!) and the black barrels. She says she wants me to paint the stocks black too. She wants all her Cowboy guns to be dark with shiny bits... so I guess I will be doing more painting shortly.
This was a rather simple and (dare I say) enjoyable project and again I thank Handirifle for his original instructions found here:

Cheers
