Marlin 795 vs Savager 64FV heavy

Hi there Im new to the fourm
Already did a search didnt find much info
so Here is my post
Going to get a 22. narrowed it down to two.
a Marlin 7000 or a Savage 64fv heavy barrel.
I decided on these two after shooting the 10/22,
wasnt really a big fan of it, dont like the trigger, look
feel etc..just wasnt for me.
I want the target barrel but dont want to spend 500+ for the 1022.
Will be using them for plinking and when I get better mabey informal
matches.
What are the triggers, actions, appearance,quality,clips,and accuracy like?
Just they are so cheap are they too good to be true? like the 597?

Also thinking if i roll on a 7000 might get the 795 stainless model.
since it has the same micro grove as the 7000 plus it looks sweet

Well as moderator of this forum I am going to stick my neck out and say you already made a trigger issue as far as the 10/22 you tried so if triggers are a issue Savage triggers stink as far as I am concerned. I got rid of a Savage striker sport in 22 mag because the trigger was so lousy this was after 2 years of occasional shooting hoping the trigger would wear in but no dice but maybe you may get lucky and find one with a good trigger but I doubt it as the general consensus on most of the 22 forums I have seen guys are complaining about the Savage triggers and the only way to go is to replace with a after market trigger then you may have a good gun. As far as the Marlin goes I know they make good 22's but there again you will have to try some and see how the triggers are. I would call a good gunsmith in your area and ask them what they think as far as triggers go on both models and go from there and ask what a trigger job would be on each of them. In these days of law suits good factory triggers are a exception and not the rule. So in most cases if you want a good trigger you will have to pay to get one. Jim
