Ballistic tip strikes again
« on: December 17, 2004, 03:37:19 PM »
just got back from another successful hunt, special antlerless season here in oklahoma, watched a nice buck with two tines broke off its left antler, I watched it for 30 minutes, then two decent six points jumped the fence, finally, right before dark, three does jumped the fence one after another and I shot the biggest one with my dads .270 loaded with a 130 grain nosler ballistic tip and she dropped in her tracks, fifth one to drop this year, this doe weighed 110 pounds.

Congrats on a good season.  Nothing wrong with BT's for deer.  But obviously you already know that.

I shot four big Mule deer does with the 100 grain BT and 115 BT with my new 25-06. Both weights performed well.
shot placement is everything.

The Ballistic Tip (BT) does it again!

FYI:

A 130-gr. BT in 270 Win is comparable to a 30-06 165-gr. BT, as far as Sectional Density or penetration is concerned.
45 ACP 230-gr. Double Tap Gold Dot = 1,010 fps / 15.3" & .95"    :D

Aim for the Triangle Area between armpits & throat.
