Mowhawky, I like the look of the tube a lot and the carriage looks very well done. 8620 is one of the best of the "Ordnance" steels having two qualities that endear it to ordnance designers and shooters alike. First, it has the strength to do an excellent job of remaining intact after thousands of firings, even in an annealed condition. Second, it has a unique place among the alloy steels in that it can be surface hardened for extremely slick sliding surfaces as in a semi or full auto design. The M-1 Garand was certainly one of the most famous Battle rifles of all time and this steel was used to make it's receiver. As slick as a 30-40 Krag and strength to spare is not a bad combination for a firearm to have.
