Don't know why the garble, it's a .JPEG picture with the text in the picture.

Basically I said that I ground the ledge from the forward flat of the ejector, as shown elsewhere, to creat the extractor function and do away with the ejector function.

I replaced the original ejector/extractor with one for the .223 but didn't use the new, lighter spring.  I kept the older heavier spring that levers the ejector/extrator up to the rim.

The problem I had after rechambering to .221 fireball from .22 hornet was that the extractor was being pulled down by the breach face when I opened the action.  That pulled the extractor away from the recessed rim and failed to extract the cartridge.

I came up with the idea of adding a small ramp and pad under the extractor so when it is drawn into the chamber it is cammed up to hold the rim of the cartridge.  This prevents the breach face from pulling the extractor down when the action is opened.  I used small welding torch to place the ramp/pad under the extractor.

I hope that makes sense cause it works 100% for me now and I just thought that someone else might benefit from my experience.

Good solution and improvement RadioTech. Perhaps with this new interest in improving the product NEF/H&R/Marlin could incorporate it in the extraction system....<><....

Conversion to extractor is easy, but it's still a spring driven extractor...the text looks like jiberish to me.....if you click it, it's legible then....

Here's a simple ejector to extractor conversion instruction.......in english...

I've done this conversion on my 45-120 BC, so I know it works well.

I'm sorry that my original post was not as ledgible as I had hoped.  It was my first attempt and I had hoped that I could help someone like me who was trying to make a good rifle shoot better.
I'm sorry that my diagram wasn't perfect, I was at work and trying to remember what things looked like and didn't do a very good job.
I'm sorry that I don't have much experience posting in a forum like this.
I'm sorry "quickdtoo", you are right, it is a spring driven extractor, but it works 100% for me, that was my point.
I appreciate the comment from MSP Ret, thank you for your thoughts and comments.
I don't believe that the comments from the moderator, "quidkdtoo", were constructive or helpful.
I think that I will refrain from being part of this forum as long as there is a sanctimonious, self rightious, condescending A-Hole as a moderator.
Nobody likes to be criticized when they are only trying to help.
I guess as "quickdtoo" puts it, IN ENGLISH,  goodnight and goodbye!
Oh yeah, "quickdtoo" jibberish is spelled with two b's not one.
But then, who really cares if you don't know any better!

Actually, I'd like you to try the post again to see if you can get it cleared up. I'd like to see what you have to offer in the graphics as well as the written portion.

Try clicking on the attachment and then quickley clicking on the "cursor with arrows icon" that briefly appears. lt works for me and enlarges the printed directions and displays the diagrams very nicely. ( :? )....<><....

Radiotech..Good post....but...  In all fairness Quickdtoo was just trying to help...if you hang on this forum very long you would know he is very helpful and I have NEVER heard him be "condescending" to anyone...sanctimonious and self rightious?? ( :?:   )(as far as him being an A-hole   ...the jury is sequestered on that one!  :-D :-D ) I think you misinterpreted his comments as being criticism...again that is your opinion....but knowing him for some time...I did not perceive it as criticism...just HIS STYLE of being helpful and if you were a regular on the forum you would have realized that....hate to loose you as a poster... I wish you would reconsider leaving us.... and remember not all of us wake up with a big grin on our face everyday.... :coffee:

Hmm, looks like someone messed in someones cornflakes!! :-D  No offense meant to you radio tech, I intended to use an emoticon or 2, forgot, sometimes what's not said is more important than what is. Sorry if my post was offensive to you, but I only meant to offer a fix for your corrupted text and an accepted alternative that's been used here.
