Guys I know this is a little off the topic that we discuss here, but I got to tell someone.  As many of you know I had heart by-pass a few years back.  Then last November while on a Moose hunt, I started having chest pains.  I got shipped to Anchorage and was told my by-pass had totally failed, and a stint was put in at a differant location of my heart.  I was put on all kinds of drugs till I would let them reopen my chest.  I decided to wait for a while, I just could not face reopening my chest.  Well last weekend I started having chest pains again, and off to Anchorage again.  The first thing the doctor wanted to check the stint, looked text book perfect.  Then he checked the by-pass site.  He told me that the stoppage there looked differant from the pictures the last time they had looked at it.  He asked if he could attempt to break through?  I responded "Go for it".  (It's funny that you can lye there and talk to a surgeon while he is moving a cathother around inside your heart, and performing surgery on you).  Well he broke through, and put a stint in place.  Now the fact that the by-pass failed is a mute point.  After two weeks I no longer have any physical restrictions, ther than a bad back.  I'm planning a Dall Sheep hunt for August.  Want to take a nice white sheep with my Handi 30-06.

Just had to tell you guys, I feel so lucky and great.  The Doctor seemed pretty excited.  I think this is a big feather in his cap also.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

That's great news and a great testament to your Doc's skill and knowledge!!!  Kinda like knowing how to make a handi accurate.....to keep in on topic!!! :-D  My huntin and fishin partner for goin on 38yrs now, is in the hospital recovering from triple bypass surgery on Tuesday, he's doing great and has expectations of me taking him home as early as Saturday, just depends on how things go tween now and then....He's doing so good that he was their(CCU) first patient to walk on his own power out of their unit to his private room, something that has never been done there before!!!

Sourdough
Glad to hear he made progress.  God Bless ya.

On the hunt issue, the wife and I were on a cruise past your stompin grounds last summer.  We took a side excursion on a float plane and the pilot flew us right next to several mountain tops full of sheep.  I was in the co-pilot seat and got a birds eye view.

He said he had taken a couple guys up there the previous fall and each got one.  had to climb a LOT to get them, but he said they were all grins when he picked them up.

We landed on the lake just below where they hunted.  Honestly, the mountains look a LOT like ours here in SoCal.

Might sound funny, but these suckers are STEEP.  My huntin buddy here grew up hunting in the mountains of New Mex and AZ and he says these are steeper.

I think ous are as steep as those we saw, but we start at about 3000ft and go to about 9000.  I think yours go higher.

Good luck on the hunt and TAKE PICS!
God, Family, and guns, in that order!

Sourdough ,

I agree with you I would feel lucky as well. I lost my mom to cancer  april 1st 2005  and now I try to count what I have instead of what I dont have.
I hope you have a wonderful hunt.
