C&R dumb question
« on: May 29, 2005, 05:00:24 PM »
Hi everyone. I just received my C&R FFL. I'm no stranger to military guns, but rules and regulations are not one of my strong points.
I know what a bound book page looks like, but what exacactly is a "bound book"? I take it my kid's loose leaf binder won't work, so what do I need?

I just bought a ledger type book in a stationary store and wrote in pen what should be included in the book which you should have a copy of from the BATF. OR you can get it online I would bet. You know the standard info they want where did you buy it, Serial number, what make and model, did you dispose of it and to who ect ect ect I would think any blank page book that is "Bound" meaning you cannot remove the paper with out tearing it out would work. Jim
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.

My "bound book" is a spiral notebook that measures 6x4. It has 50 pages. I use one page for each entry. The one gun that I have disposed of I wrote the info on the back of the page.

NewHampshire,
Response to your 3-ring binder approach.........I consider a 3-ring binder to be inadequate for the purposes of keeping records that cannot/should not be altered.  Are you with me here?  It's too easy to rip out pages in a 3-ring binder and leave no trace behind.

I would strongly recommend that you buy one of those Composition Books (the kind with the black and white checked hard covers) and place your records in that!  Just don't want you to get in a bind with the Feds, buddy.
Good Luck!
Jim

I use a page in Microsoft Word that I got from the internet and keep them in a three ring binder. This complies with the record keeping requirements and is pretty simple to do. I keep the filled out records in my computer but always keep a printed copy on my bookshelf. If you want the Microsoft Word blank page, send me an e-mail and I'll send you the file.
Hunting and fishing are not matters of life or death. They are much more important than that.

Do it the simple way, Brownells for $3.00 and if you send them a copy of your license you get roughly a 20% discount of most of their merchandise.

I have two copies of my bound book just incase one ends up missing or stolen its good to have an extra copy too.   I use a 3 ring binder for all my guns and a bound book for just incoming C&R's too.       BigBill

I have everything in my bound book too modern and c&r everything that is in the safe is recorded in it.  I have different sections in my bound book modern & C&R.
