Burned Again!!!
« on: February 17, 2005, 10:17:34 AM »
I stopped by my local gunstore today to check on Sportsmen's Club memberships and while there was looking around and an EAA Bounty Hunter sxs caught my eye, I asked to look, and it was one of the "real" hammer models.  I thought "it can't hurt to ask" HAHAHA!!  Bet you've said that your self just before pulling out the wallet to pay too much for something you wanted.  I've been happy with my Browning SxS but it was taking too much of a beating to suit me.   I'd been halfway looking for something to replace it with so I went ahead and paid the $200 out-the-door price.  Oh well at least this one LOOKS new, but someone had messed up the internals: disconnected the safety, polished the chambers, I guess the messed with the springs too, 'cause when you open the lever, the barrels just drop down with no resistance.  I know I should know better by now but sometimes you just can't help yourself!!      :-D

I'm confused.  With a "real" hammer gun, the barrels SHOULD drop with no resistance when opened.  They don't have the cocking levers that hammerless designs do.  That's what I like most about hammer guns.  You can open them without tensioning the springs.  :?

Shorty, I can quickly end your confusion, this is the first one of these things I've ever played with.  I guess I was expecting resistance to opening just like the others.
