Holsters for Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter Models
« on: May 26, 2005, 08:39:41 PM »
I have been unsuccessful so far in finding a reasonably prices leather hunting holster for my SBH Hunter.  Ideally, I'd like to have a crossdraw holster for convenience of caring and unholstering in the field.  Anyone have any suggestions?  Seems like the "extra long" ejector rod and housing make this revolver incompatible with the current BH 7-1/2" offerings.

By the way, I'm looking for an Open/Iron Sight holster.....not one for the SBH with a scope mounted.

Thanks.

Hey Jakes,

I bought a SBH Hunter .44 earlier in the year and after some searching decided to go with the leather holster Ruger sells for I believe about $75.  There are others out their for more $ and less but I couldn't justify spending more when I thought this would suit my needs.  It is a crossdraw or strong side and the revolver fits perfectly into it.  Some of the cheaper ones looked like only the barrel fits into the holster and I wanted one that covered the cylinder and more.

Check out the Lion Hunter model made by Rob of Simply Rugged. Give him a call or email, he can make it how you want and prices are good to boot.

I carry my unscoped Super Blackhawk in a Hunter 2200 series crossdraw.  A sturdy leather holster that sells for about $40.00 but comes in right hand only, unless things have changed in the last few years.  Go to http://www.huntercompany.com/hunter.html to see the Hunter line.  Lawdog
