Ruger SuperRedHawk 454 Cassull. Wha is it worth?
« on: May 22, 2005, 12:17:30 PM »
:D
Please, help me.

I've just saw a Ruger Super RedHawk DA revolver in .454 Cassull, used (almost not used that much or the previous owner kept it in exellent conditions) with a Leupold 2x scope on it.  It will definitely need some trigger job.  All for $600.

Is this a good deal price?
Is this a good accurate gun?
Is this gun durable? (I know it's not a FA revolver but...)

I like this gun to shoot mostly 250 gr bullets at 1200 FPS for hunting.  I do like the fact that the cartridges are tough and last long for reloading purposes; and also the fact that it uses small primers.

I appreciate any input on this.  I have temporarily put this gun on hold so I don't loose it if it is a good deal.  Thanks.

LJB

I have one and it is a great shooter, the price for the scope and gun combo is about right on.

I took my out the other day and was shooting at 50 yards and had a 2 inch group of the bench, no sand bads.  :D

I paid $400 for one that had fired less than a box of ammo in the box with ringes. You can pick-up a new Leo 2X scope for under $200. It`s alittle more than I would pay. If I really wanted another one I would go $550, but I don`t know what guns are going for in your area.

That price sounds about right I had a SRH in 454 all I shot in it was heavy loads and I had problems keeping the scope mounts together but with lighter loads (I was shooting 300's at 1750fps) you shouldn't have the problems that I had. I was getting 3 inch groups at 100 yards. for a trigger job on mine I took two loops off from the main triggger spring and stoned the sears and got rid of  that factory burr they seem to leave on all the sears of every ruger firearm I've owned. that dropped the trigger pull down to about 3lbs.
