Marlin .405 Winchester???

Hi Everyone,

Just a thought but why hasn't Marlin ever made an 1895 chambered for the .405 Winchester?  And, is it possible to have one chambered for it aftermarket?  Or is this a problem due to the shape of the bullets of the .405?  

Let me know what you guy think about this one.

The 405 Winchester is too long for the Marlin Levergun action. It will always be a legendary round by its connection to Teddy Roosevelt. No other reason makes it exemplary. He carried 2 of them to Africa because the M1895 action was prone to breakage due to all the linkage and pin pivots. More then half the production of the 1895's were in 7.62x54R Russian and who gives them credit for brilliance. Buy a #1 Ruger in the 405 and really own a nice piece of work.

PS- .444 can be loaded to within a hairs breadth of a .405 if you are only after equivalent ballistics.
