I will be picking up my new toy today,Had it in my hands,what a great
rifle,hope it shoots as good as it looks.this will be my third 223,i have had great sucess with the other 2.if you guys haven't seen one yet go to H&Rs
page.Choate stock and fluted barrel.where i live i paid 265+tax(PA)not a bad price at all.

Welcome to the forum. Yeah I have been eyeballing these since I first saw them in the catalog. They look killer to me, yet not everyone likes synthetic. I haven't had a chance to actually check out one though in person. How does the flutes look? Are they deep? I believe you won't be disappointed with it. What kind of scope are you going to be mounting on it?

Finally got my new toy set up,H&R SB2 F23 Fluted,223.Shes wearin a Bushnell Elite 3200 10x40 Mildot,Badger Max 50 rings,scope level,Harris bi-pod.Added cheek rest from a Ultimate Sniper stock,Free floated the barrel and of course cleaned all the factory goop out.Got lucky with the trigger pull according to my scale pull is about 3.75( NO CHIT) with absolutely no creep.
I guess alls thats left is the sight in part and fine tuning.

How does the fluting look on the barrel? I was really interested in the barrel but not the stock set when i first saw them. The only thing that really turned me off was that i heard that the fluting was done poorly? Is this true?

I'd  rate the barrel fluting right along with the Remington 700 Sendero or
Savage.Very nice.I'm hoping that H&R will come out with a 308 fluted.

I can't beleive nobody has asked yet, so I will.

It seems to me that I read in a post a while back that when the new UVF came out that the ejector was going to be changed to a  mechanically operated system.  Is that TRUE ???  If my memory is working right (doubt it...) they said  it would have a new upgraded extractor  gizmo with teeth on it that CAMS the cartridge out when you open the action??? NOT the old ejector system w/spring that I and so many other people have had trouble with them not spitting out the case when it's supposed to.     PLEASE SAY ITS TRUE  :shock:

Yup, the new extractor system is mechanical, not spring driven. I think it would rip the rim off the brass before a case stayed in the chamber, it's that positive. But you may still find new firearms with the ejector instead of the extractor since H&R is in the process of using up the old ejector underlugs first. My 204 Ruger bought last Ocober has and extractor. New style extractor underlug on top, old at the bottom in the pic.

Seen my first one today at a gun shop in Hartselle AL.
It looked really nice, felt good but I seen one problem.  :shock:
I think the same person that put the stock bolt in is the same one who has been stripping the screws on the recoil pads. Man was that bolt boogered up. It looked stripped and almost all the black paint was gone off of it.  :? I did not stick around long because the shop was closing when I got there.
