I finally got some rounds loaded, and out to the range to test the Marlin.444 I bought a couple of months ago. This was my first group after sight in: It is Set up with a Simmons 3-9x40 walmart special.

I have loaded up ten more to test at 100yards, and also chronograph. I'll have that info hopefully sooner than a couple of months.

mag41vance: Nice Group. Thanks for showing what the 444 is capable of. I hope you duplicate that grooup at twice the distance. I love doing that kind of shooting with my 444s, with heavy cast loads- I call anything under an inch at 100 yds with a lever gun 'Group Therapy'. And wouldja believe there are folks who think the 444 can't shoot. Ha! Mikey.

It's hard to believe that the first shooting session was so positive.For me, this is the first time a first load has shown such promise.
I am anxious to see if it repeats.

So far the .444 is a winner.

i used to have a win model 94 chambered in .444 marlin. it shot great.....it fed horribly. im not a reloader so i was stuck using the crappy 240 gr hp remingtons....there was no accuracy. then i switched to the hornady 265 gr. now that was a good accurate factory load and while i didnt group like above.....it was very respectable. problem was they were manufactured at .005 longer than the winchester would handle.....and i dint want to reseat every round i was gonna shoot. winchester failed miserably in the design of that gun and they failed in their customer service regarding it. i got rid of it and replaced it with a guide gun .....maybe i should have gotten the .444 marlin instead..but im happy with the 45/70.
