how about a handi raffle
« on: May 04, 2005, 04:02:14 AM »
why don't we have a raffle while where down there??? somebody (me or somebody else) could buy a rifle  ,lets say for $210 we would sell 42 $5 tickets that way nobody is pocketing money but some body is going to come home with a hanid for $5 $10 or $15 (depending on how many tickets). i don't know how the sell of guns through a raffle works but if you did have to get it registered it would only be a $20 or so fee at a FFL down there. what do you think???? is it possible???

Sounds to me that we have "WAY MORE" prizes than we would ever need now, thanks to all the sponsors and GB.

Lets just have fun now....

Not a bad idea Mitchell but I'm with GrandpaMike .... cause I for one am already going to be strapped for cash on this trip anyway....$$GAS$$, lodging and food and   ...it would also depend on what caliber...if 357 or 45-70 ...I already got two of each and a good assortment of other calibers I wouldn't want to duplicate...so I would not want to cough up for on raffle no matter how good the odds were.....others might feel the same...and in that case if ya had to sell 42 tickets...and only 8 people were interested ...the cost would go up to 25 bucks a piece or more.....not bad odds but too rich for my blood.....corse one could always sell what ever they won and pocket some cash but.....  :? I'd rather take the money and bet on a sure thing at some diner say 3 mornings  started with  3 eggs sunny side up,hash browns and ham, toast with allot of jelly and a tall coffee....

It's a good idea, but I'm with the other's on this one.  We probably aren't going to have 42 people anyway so the tickets are going to have to be higher than $5.00.

I'm just now seeing this for some reason but I don't buy chances on raffles anyway. If it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all. Can't rightly say I've ever won anything.

This is likely to be the single most expensive hunt I've gone on except maybe the ill fated trip to CO when the Bronco broke. Now that was one expensive trip. And this one is a free hunt.

I've bought four new rifles for the trip only two of which will end up coming with me. Had to scope them all and have put together over 1500 rounds of ammo which even included buying a new RCBS case trimmer to trim some of the cases on. Bought a whole bunch of other new goodies needed or not. OK so I'm crazy, no one ever accused me of being sane.  :-D
