Target shooting in Central Ohio
« on: May 31, 2005, 04:21:50 PM »
Anyone want to meet up some time this summer? Maybe Deer Creek or Delaware? Bring Handi's and share tips, etc. I'm not a great bench shooter, and could use some experienced folks to shoot with.

I've got a Survivor in .223, and would like to tweak it as much as possible.

Thanks,
Jim

WE WIN!!!!!  now somebody go tell them they where in a race and lost .ok??

etothepii i live down in chillicothe the deer creek range is only a 120 yards range if i remember right  and its like $5 for a yearly pass.  as for a true long range range i don't know of any . i've got a 500 yards range here at my house and a powerline right of way about ten minutes away and i can shoot as far as i want there (mead property no one cares). the only thing i can tell you is get friendly with some farmers or join some kind of club.

i made a trade with a farmer last year i would kill off his groundhogs if we would let me target shoot. you might want to go that rout. good luck and let me know what you find out  if you would.

Deer Creek is only 100 yds, and it's $5 for a day, $25 per year, good for all state ranges. Not the ideal situation, but it's what I've got to work with right now. :(

My sister owns a market just south of Columbus, can't remember what route, but it is the renick Family Market.  Anyone ever stop there.  they have a big pumpkin festive there every year, also have a good corn roast too.

I'm only about 2500 miles away or I'd go shoot too.
God, Family, and guns, in that order!

Hey guys,

I am over in Kettering, I could drag out my BC in 45/70 as long as you don't mind the smoke from it! I switched to black powder in it.

hello,

the Woodbury Wildlife area has a range with 200 yd' targets last I knew...

'search' for Ohio DNR and you'll find a place on that site where they discuss ranges and their classes of use/supervision.    i never shot there, since it was just being finished up, but it looked like a great site.

i was at woodbury last year and it was awesome, a great place. yes it has 200 yard ranges. and it also has a great feature- voice activated skeet and trap. so you can shoot by yourself. pretty cool huh?

Handirifle, the only place that I can think of is Circleville, I know they have a pumpkin festival.  If you fellas want to make it to the Athens area, there is a 100yd. range(maybe 150 if you move the picnic tables back), and it doesn't cost anything.  It's at Strouds Run State Park.  Right now I'm going to school in Nelsonville, and I call Bucyrus home, so anywhere in the state is within driving distance.  I always need an excuse to visit with friends.

P.S. Hey mitchell, do you know where Camp Sherman is around Chillicothe? I have to go there for training in a couple weeks to shoot, and then in July I have a Combat Pistol Shooting match I'm competing in for the guard too.
P.S.S. Handirifle, come to think of it, I think I may have seen you sister's place, is it by any chance around Ashville, or the Scioto Downs horse track?
