As far as remington goes, I have had many 870's over the last 14 years.
My rifles have always been browning a-bolts and ruger m77's. With my brownings long gone I have been hunting with my ruger over the last season. I killed a few deer with it. Then I spent some time(eight trips)on the range with it. And it wont group any better than 4"! Very upset that a 600$ gun wont shoot any better than this I sold it to a gun store in town.
I was talked in to buying a 700 BDL Synthetic in 7MM. I am looking forward to shooting it next weekend. Hopefully it will performe a little better then the last rifle. The action on the BDL out of the box is already better than the ruger after it was broke in.

Anyone have any problems with the BDL? I am curious as to how it will shoot.

You will hear enough advice on what you need to do, to build a new rifle.  My $.02 is have a smith smooth and adjust the trigger to 3.5# and then take it out shooting.  Oh, clean it before shooting it.  Take your time and don't overheat the rifle.  It will sometimes take a couple of hundred rounds for a 700 to really smooth out and start shooting its best.

You should try doing what I failed to do with my new Remington; the break-in procedure listed somewhere on the Remington site (I couldn't do it for I got my 700 in the winter...kinda hard to do all that in the snow and in below freezing weather :) ) for a new Remington firearm.

I have a 700 ADL synthetic and one word of advice; if you decide to remove the barrel from the stock, remember how many turns you made. That might be common sense, but I failed to yield to it (what a surpise) and my groups went way off. Keep that in mind and save yourself frustration! Good luck!!  :D

Thanks for the advice...I look forward to shooting it this weekend. I am going to rems website to look for the breakin period info now.

Have fun! Just watch out for that barrel, geez  :roll:  :) .
