traps for fox
« on: January 29, 2003, 07:58:12 AM »
I've had alot of luck catch coon, rats, and mink using a #1 coilspring.  I dont' think that it would work very well on fox.  I predict alot of toe catches

#1's big enough?

I've caught a few in #11 longsprings, which have roughly the same jawspread as a #1 coil. However, the design of a longspring allows much more holding power than the little #1 coilspring models do.
Toe catches are a possibility, though. Fox have relatively large feet for their body size.

Number 1 1/2 coils with 1.75 next are your traps of choice for fox.I've caught quite a few in #2 coils but I think 1 1/2's are better for straight  Fox work.

I have caught coons in # 1's. In fact I caught my biggest one in a #'1.  I have only caught one fox though. I sared it. I can't help much here. :(

Dont use that small because you will only wise them up when yu miss them or pinch'em.  I would suggest either the #1.75 or #2
