32 H&R Magnum????????

Okay guys,
Educate me on the .32 H&R Magnum...  Hear a lot of you guys saying how you wish NEF made barrels in that caliber.  Looking at the ballistics, I can't see what makes this round so special.

I have to agree with you, I think a 357 Maxie is a lot better,
 If you want lite rounds , shoot 38 Spl, or 357 mag. Just

I think a lot of the appeal is in having a rifle chambered for the same shells as a handgun.  There are quite a few who like their .32 H&R Mags in handguns.  That was part of the original appeal for my 357 barrel.  Everyone doesn't feel a need for 400 gr of bullet for every task.

BTW, I don't own a 32 of any sort.   :grin:

Actually, the 32 H&R Mag is quite the pipsqueak. It drives 90-115 grain bullets to the high speeds of 900-120fps. But it's real charm is that it does this with only 3 or 4 grains of powder. That means that a pound of powder is good for 1800+ rounds. It is also a popular caliber, meaning that there are LOTS of 30 caliber bullets out there to play with. It is also a straight wall case, which means a very high case life if you don't load it to max every loading. It is probably not good for anything beyond squirrel or turkey, and it would have to be danged accurate for that. One of the worsdt mistakes of my life was selling a 10" Ruger Single Six in 32 Mag twenty years ago now. I dind't realize then what a nice little cartridge it is. I've considered haveing a 22 hornet barrel rebored, but Taurus is bringing out a lever in this chambering, so if NEF doesn't bring one out, my dollars are walking.

Not every cartridge has to be a Max-durn-thing to be useful.  In my world anyway there's a place for an accurate(has to be that) relatively quiet, reloadable round that can be carried during that part of the season when you can shoot just about anything except big game.  Right now I use a 22 Hornet loaded with 46 gr FP's at 1500 fps for that sort of "pot luck" rifle, but wouldn't mind a 32 Mag or 32 S&W Long, or 32-20, 25-20.  There was a time when such calibers, at least the last two, were used quite a bit for larger game, and in some states(such as PA) are still legal.  Thankfully, many  now use more "humane" calibers, but these cartridges still have that ability if  need be; at least a close range.   Frankly, the 38 spcl/357 Mag/Max bore me some,since my pistol caliber is 44 Mag(and 44 spcl), but other folks swear by them.  Nothin' wrong with a little diversity in life.

I would love a .32 h&r for my handi , this would be great little round for tree rats , fox or coons over dogs and the .32 is just a fun little round to shoot  :grin:
