Looking for half a barrel
« on: June 06, 2005, 03:01:17 PM »
Or even a whole damaged barrel.  I have an idea in mind and need a centerfire rifle barrel, preferably without the barrel lug and only the chamber section and maybe 10" or so of barrel.  Caliber does NOT matter, but standard barrel is preferred (picky huh?).

It is not going to be used for a handgun or any such thing, just want to use it for a profile for a project I have been thinking about.

Kinda an odd request, but, hey, ya never know if you don't ask.

Sorry handirifle, but I don't have a barrel for you even though I am fairly eccentric myself (The more grey the greater the entitlement) As barrels go, it won't matter if it was a rifle barrel, the regulation is on the reciever or frame, or most legally, that part which is engraved with the serial number.

I can't take my Springfeild 120A (an old bolt action single shot 22LR) and make a pistol from it. Nothig would prevent me from taking he barrel off, cutting it down and installing it on a Ruger MKII frame, I can even leave the barrel it's full length, (20") on the Ruger frame, I just can't make a pistol from a rifle. Go figure. Strikes me that a 20" handgun is infinately more concealable than a short rifle, but my short rifle must be 26" OAL if I remember correctly, and must have a barrel of 16". It is obvious tht politicians figured this crap out.

You misunderstood me.  I am not going to make a handgun from it.  I don't want a lug on it.  If I get a barrel that has one, I'll remove it.  I want to use it as a form to make a scope mount, or try anyway.  Long story, just an idea I'm kicking around.

Hey Handi,

If you get a barrel piece, I wouldn't mind getting the chamber and lug area from you.

I want to do a barrel stubbing project for a smaller (relatively) BPCR and I need to get the hindquarters of a barrel.

I was planning on sending in my rifle to get a (sacrificial) 30-30 bbl that I could cut and thread, but If somebody comes up with the piece, I'd happily take it.

Hell, I might even send that person a little something for the effort.
Just my Awf Hand comments...

Will keep that in mind, except you want one with the lug still on, I don't.
