Savage 93 problems

Just shot my brand new Savage 93FSS in 22 mag and encountered a couple of problems. First, no matter the adjustment to the rear sight it shoots a foot high at 100 yards and on a full magazine (five rounds) you have to push up on the magazine in order for the first round to feed.  Does anyone know if the sights are replaceable and also, are the problems I related something I should have the factory deal with?

The Magizine feeding problem is pretty common with Savage 93 series. The problem is in the metal piece that the magazine slides onto, It needs to be belt forward just a little bit. This needs to be done out of the stock and done very gentle, although it will take some force to do.

As for the sight problem, I've never heard of that happening before (but that doesn't mean a whole lot), that maybe something to ask your local gunsmith about or call Savage and ask them.

I have owned 2 Savage 93 .22mags in the last 10 years, one was a wood stock model with standard barrel the other a polymer stock standard barrel gun.  I had no problems with the mags, feed and function was great.

The major problem was with the open sights.  On the wood stock rifle (the first) it too shot at least 1' high at 100 yards.  I went thru all the sight adjustments and could never get any better than 1' high at 100 yards.

On the polymer stock rifle the hits were nearly 2' right at 100 yards and about 8" right at 25 yards.  I drifted both sights to finally get it to hit dead on at 50 yards, but it looked terrible with serious overhangs of the sights.

I traded off my 93's a long time ago and wont have another because of this open sight issue.
