Pyro pellets in my new Encore
« on: June 11, 2005, 04:53:40 AM »
Guys I have been struggling with the 777 crud ring for a month now in my new encore.  My first shot was always in the same place then proceding shots would be kinda scattered around on target.

Anyhows I called TC and talked to Jack.  He stated I must have a tight bore and to try pyro pellets.

So I did and it worked like a charm.

Two pyro pellets and a 250 shockwave with a winchester 209 primer gave me consistant accuracy shot after shot with swabing with a spit and dry patch between shots. 7 shot group was around 2", 2" above the bull.

My last group with the encore I cleaned the barrel with tc #13 and let the gun cool down for 30 minutes while I shot my 22 mag. I then shot a 3 shot group with 10 minutes cool down time between shots that measured 14/16" center to center.

Just for curiosity I shot my omega with 3 pyro pellets and the shockwave 250 to see what it will do.  This rifle has been doing gret with the 777 ffg  and shockwave 250 and 200 but I was just curious what it would do with pellets.

I fired 3 shots allowing the barrel to cool real good between shots.  Group was 1 and 1/4 center to center 3" above the bull. I was pretty impressed.  However, each time I pulled the trigger the recoil knocked my contact in  my left eye out of place.

Life is good in Virginia this morning.

That's saying something for a big man like you iisabigone!

You've got some great results with the pyro pellets. I've read alot on pyro pellets, and mostly all were good.

Good to see you agin!

Surveyer this was my first experience with the pellets.  I shot black powder ffg in all my mzs before going to 777 when it first came out.  I have had great luck with the 777 with all my other rifles but this encore was giving me fits with follow up shots.  The crud ring was so bad it was difficult and frustrating to get the gun shooting and work up a load with it.  I did pretty good with a couple of loads when I first got it but while fine tuning a specific load I became very frustrated.

I ordered one of them vari flame duhickies from that dude up in canada but I havent got it yet.  Im hopeing that may help eliminate some of the crud ring so I can use the 777 loose to ring some accuracy out of the encore. I was real surprized by the grouping with the pellets.

I shot my white a couple of weeks ago and it is still putting them in the right spot consistantly when I pull the trigger good.  I havent seen my other white since my son confiscated it to hunt with during the 2003 season.

I check in to read all the boards a couple times a day trying to learn something and enjoy reading the posts but I rarely post.

Have a great summer!
I hope things are going great
