You should have fairly good luck with any powder btween VV N-130 and IMR 4320 on the burn rate chart. That give you abt. 36 Different powders to chose from. I`ve alwasy had good luck with BLc-2 and H-335. The .223 is not a hard round to load and seem to digest several different powders and bulllet weights well.

I've used H4895 and H322 with 50 gr bullets and had very good accuracy although at somewhat lower velocity.

I agree with Catfish, there are lots of powder that work well for the 223.

I've been tempted to buy a keg of Accurate 2230C, it goes for less than $70.
Anyone use this powder?

748 works good. If you want reduced laods try 800x, blue dot or unique.

Have used 50 grain pills with H-335 since 1991. Excellant results in all following 223s:

Rem 788
Rem 700 HB
H&R Handi (2)
Black rifles (3)

Only thing it never worked in was a Ruger Mini-14....Oh wait, nothing ever worked in that......rifle. Thats why I no longer have it! (But I have to admit I've heard other shooters have very accurate Ruger Mini-14s.)

There are a bunch of good powders for that round. I`ve used alot of Blc-2 and always had good luck with it. There was a bunch of AA-2230-C powder on the market cheap and I bought 48 lbs. of it sso that`s what I`ll be useing for a while now, but there is no real good data for it so if your not used to working up loads without good data it might not be a good choice for you, but it is in the right burn rate for that round.

I use 26 gr. of 2230C for .223 wth Sierra Blitzking 50gr, Nosler Ballistic Tip 50 gr, and Berger MEF 50 gr.  I consistently get less than MOA with these 3 bullets but the Bergers are the best and most expensive of the 3.  I also use it for .22-250 and just tried it in a .30-06.   I bought 2  8 lb jugs from Powder Valley.  On the jug it says use the AA2230 load data and I've heard others say use the AA2460.  I'm happy with the AA2230 data.

I've had good luck using H335 in several .223's.
I used some AA2230 back when they were selling it as AA223 in plastic milk jugs.  And it worked very well.  Then I moved and couldn't get it any longer so I switched to H335.  If AA2230 (or AA2230C) is the same stuff they used to sell, its an excellent choice.  I haven't tried any of the new stuff 'cause (in a pique over the lack of availability of AA223) I loaded up on enough H335 to last me into the next century.
