cast bullets

I am starting to get set up for reloading, mainly handgun, and my question is......Cast bullets that I purchast in bulk, do they need to be sized or lubed?

With rare exceptions, they're ready to go. The exceptions are usually special order items for people with special applications.   Your best bet is to use a local caster's products if you have a local guy. Otherwise you pay a lot for shipping. It's still a lot cheaper than jacketed bullets, though, and there's a lot less wear on the barrel too.

By the way, sizing and lubing is more time consuming than the casting process itself in most cases.

   Cast bullets are not just cast bullets. Some are fairly soft, some are hard and some have gas checks. Most of the so called hard cast bullets will do fine for plinking loads if kept at 950 fps. or slower. If your looking for hunting bullets you will have to get some good hard cast gas checked bullets or you will lead your barrel real bad. The gas checked bullets cost alot more than the plinking bullets.
