Gun Stoppers has cash rewards

County residents can earn $100 by providing information that leads to the recovery of an illegal gun that someone is carrying in a public place.

Lake County Gun Stoppers, a program of Lake County Crime Stoppers, is offering the reward. The $100 cash windfall is part of program to keep schools, playgrounds and buses safe for the public.

Call Crime Stoppers at (847) 662-2222.

Crime Stoppers wants information, not your name.

*FW Note

What better use of public finds than to turn neighbors into government colloborators to make a couple of bucks?

Hey, It worked in the USSR...

They may talk of a "New Order" in the  world, but what they have in mind is only a revival of the oldest and worst tyranny.   No liberty, no religion, no hope.   It is an unholy alliance of power and pelf to dominate and to enslave the human race.

What happened to the state of Illinois?  It used to be the home to a lot of sportsmen (and Republicans).  Now, I don't think there is a more anti-gun state in the union.  I can't imagine being a shooter or hunter and living there.

Let's not knee-jerk, here.  If someone IS carrying an illegal gun in a public place, he is breaking the law.  Granted, Ill. may not allow their citizens full Constituional rights, but if they aren't carrying legally, they're not one of us.  I can just see it.  Granny is at the mall and pulls a security guard aside to tell him. "I think one of those hoodlums is packing a .25.  Will you arrest him so I can make $100?"      :)

What is an "Illegal gun"?

Is there such a thing?

Is a law that denies the most irrelevant of citizens the full exercise of their rights a valid law to begin with?

Which crime is more illegal, the one that violates the law according to the U.S. Constitution, or the one which violates an openly unconstitutional state or city "law"?

"The right of a citizen to bear arms, in lawful defense of himself or the State, is absolute. He does not derive it from the State government. It is one of the high powers" delegated directly to the citizen, and `is excepted out of the general powers of government.' A law cannot be passed to infringe upon or impair it, because it is above the law, and independent of the lawmaking power." [Cockrum v. State, 24 Tex. 394, at 401-402 (1859)]

"The provision in the Constitution granting the right to all persons to bear arms is a limitation upon the power of the Legislature to enact any law to the contrary. The exercise of a right guaranteed by the Constitution cannot be made subject to the will of the sheriff." [People vs. Zerillo, 219 Mich. 635, 189 N.W. 927, at 928 (1922)]

I wonder, if they grab you, slam you against the wall, handcuff you & then discover you are a law abiding gun owner, do you get the C-note?  :)

They tried a turn in your neighbor law here a few years ago but the abuses by people with a grudge against a neighbor or boyfriend killed it.

This kind of silliness cant be anything but abusive. How does anyone know if someone else should have a gun? Who gets to say
who's supposed to have one? Who gives them that right?
Just another whack at our rights, thats all it or any new gun control  legislation is.
