Texas Out of State Hunt ???'s
« on: August 23, 2005, 12:34:33 PM »
Some relatives invited me on a Deer, Hog, varmint hunt in Nov. We will be on a 3 day hunt on private property. I just have a couple questions.

1. Is the Non resident $300 license the only license a Non-res can hunt deer with? Are there any other licenses, Stamps, etc., that I need to purchase as well?

2. I'd like to drive but wasn't sure what the weather would be like going from Ca to TX in mid November. Last time I was in Texas for winter it was Dec. '85 or so and there were ice storms and stuff. But Ariz. and New Mex. weren't too bad. I'd be driving a full size truck but no 4X4.

Any help would be appreciated, if there's anyone who can think of anything else I'd need to be TX legal or whatever let me know.

Thanks
Scott

The link above, pages 53 & 54 (if it works).

Basically,
Non-resident special hunting, exotics, all legal
game birds (except turkey) all non-game animals
squirrel and javelina (no other game animals, NOT DEER) $125.00
Stamp endorsements apply.

Non-resident 5 day special hunting (same as above)
5 consecutive days, $45.00
Again, Stamp endorsments apply.

If all you want is to hunt dove one of these should work.
You should note the stamp endorsment requirments also.

Oh yeah, now  you've got to let me know if you've got a good spot.

You didn't say what part of Texas you will be hunting, or driving through.  The state is big and the weather, like the terraine is very different from one area to the next.  Generally speaking though unless you are in far west Tx, or the panhandle, the winter weather is not bad.  Other areas can and do occassionally get some ice/snow and cold temps, but it is not that often and usually not in November.
