New glass for an old work horse
« on: June 21, 2005, 02:42:52 PM »
I have a Remington mod 740 Barrel code XA (12-54) with a four digit serial number. It currently wears a J.Unertl 4X Hawk in a Weaver pivot mount. I hate to break up a pair that has been together SOOOO long, but I'd like to scope her with some non-fifty year old optics. A nice new forward mount/MER combo would not hurt my feelings in the least. I'll be using this old girl once again to load the freezer with pork.
I should mention that I do have the original sights on the gun just incase I "tip the scope" for up close work

Suggestions are always appreciated
Shaun

depends on what you want, but a 4x nikon (dont choke but wally world) for $100 bill would be great.  Not a MER but will replace your old optics and get that old girl back in the game and not break the bank. :-)

I thought about that, and still might go that route. I really wanted to do something neat with this gun though- like a scout type mount and scope set-up. Just trying to explore all of my options.
