Caliber selection??!!??

Why is caliber selection so difficult? Just when you think you've got a cartridge figured out, you start studying another! Whats so dang hard about it? Does anyone else have this problem?

All the time. Try not limiting yourself to one. Get something like the 280 or 30-06 to take care of the heavy work, then get something to take care of plinking and such, a 44 Mag is perfect for this.  Don't know if your reload or not. If you do, it opens an even wider band of performance from any that you choose. All said and done, I think the 38-55 fits my wants and needs better than anything I have used in past. But I'm studying on what I want next :grin:

Sure it's difficult...with so-many choices...and a-lot of the calibers seems to overlap...and having to deceide if your choice has to do double or triple duty...then seeing what has been known to shoot or not shoot...it's never easy...that's why we always say... Buy Them All ...then you won't have to guess :lol:

I think agonizing over calibers, and what guns to buy them in,  is part of the fun of getting a new gun. It's like pre-season scouting, stand building, shooting lane clearing, planting food plots etc.. . If we could go out to the back 40 and shot a trophy buck anytime we wanted to. Most of us would get bored and lose intrest in hunting pretty fast. I think most people would get just as bored with buying new guns, if they always new exactly what they wanted.
