The curtain is going to fall on California gun owners.

Legislation about to pass the state legislature here in the PRC will kill gun ownership in this state if the governor does not veto it.  It will criminalize the ownership of any ammo that does not have a serial number on it and you can bet that major ammo manufacturers won't go to the expense just for the sake of California.  It'll kill reloading here altogether.  This is how the political left destroys our rights.  Hold your breath on this one.  I just wrote out a check for $50 and sent it off to Gun Owners of California.  I hope the NRA is getting into this, we need all the help we can get.

Insanity.

If the legislation becomes law, I would guess that a lot of Arizona, Nevada and Oregon gun shops will see a sharp increase in business.
On the 19th of April, 1775, a tyrannical government sent an army to disarm its citizens. They ran into a touch of trouble.

Dusty - this stuff swings from left to right, just like pendulums.  We hear about all of this now, and in a few years after the streets have run red, the cities have melted down and anarchy thrives in downtown CA cities, it will swing the other way.

Kalifornika lawmakers are such immature fools it is almost worth the wait to see how many of them die by their own foolishness, thinking that serial numbering bullets will keep criminals from killing innocent (actually too stupid for voting in those poiticians) civilians and laying seige to police stations.  I think when it gets so bad that the mian focus of drive-by shooting is the Capitol house or the Legislature, they will get the picture.

That's the great thing about criminals - they always take enough rope to hang themselves, and once the people are disarmed and criminals establish an anarchy the people will revolt and free themselves in spite of the best efforts of the law to keep them subservient.  If they don't, then we just put up a fence around the state and keep them there.  JMHO.  Mikey.

I am moving to northern CA in November so I will put my $0.02 in.

I am curious to know how one would go about serializing brass cases without affecting their integrity.

Can anybody point to drops in crime associated with California's Gun Control Policy?

My Guess is probably not.  I find it hard to believe that some criminal with an illegal gun to begin with is going to be deterred in any way by a requirement to possess serialized ammo.  It seems to me that it may help LEO's by giving them an additional thing to charge some guy they know is trouble with when they catch him with illegal weapons and ammo.  However I don' believe the trade off is worth it.  Not even close.

I know I will not be taking my handguns or semi-auto rifles with me when I go.  Hopefully I will be able to get out of their within 2 years.

Why would you go someplace you cant bring your private posessions with you?
If its for work, I think I'd pass myself, all the money in the world wont help if you are in need of a gun.

I work as an employee of the department of the army.

When I was hired I signed a relocation agreement.  I agreed to go wherever the Army needed me for up to a year after the completion of my training.

If I fail to honor this contract it speaks very poorly about me.

I checked into Californians hunting regulations.  We killed more deer in Southwest PA last year than the entire state of CA.  I probably won't be doing much hunting.

I also plan to look into the possibility of living in NV and commuting.
