RCBS Case Trimmer problems...

Greetings...I'm having a problem(s) with my Trim Pro case trimmer...when I place the shell holder on the arms per the manufacturers directions, it is waaay too tight to get a shell down into the slot, far enough...this is happening with ALL my different case sizes/different shell holders...when I reverse it, with the numbers facing away from the cutter, the shell is too loose, and spins when I try to trim it...RCBS seems to think there's something wrong with the case trimmer...is there an adjustment I can make to correct the problem?

I have one of these trimmers and they are really tight. I don't think that they have any kind of adjustment it may loosen up a bit the more you use it. I have had mine apart due to the fact that on the side that holds the case that whole thing came loose I had to get underneith it and tighten the screw with a allen wrench. But as I said before they are tight. Good luck :?

I dug out my instruction book and we'll go over it again.  To begin with, I would suggest that you mount the trimmer to your bench top, because it does require quite a bit of effort to push the handle down enough to slip the case into the holder.  From the RCBS Instructions text:  
1)Attach case trimmer handle by slipping the end into the slot of the handle support and inserting the knurled pin.  Photo#3.
2)Next, select proper shell holder, per Reference Table page 7. Hold the shell holder with the "RCBS" letters and number stamp facing the cutter and the slot facing up.  Press down on the case holder handle and slide the "keyholes" in the shell holder over the two matching posts on the case holder, making sure the shell holder slips down firmly into position.  Photo #4.  Check to be certain the shell holder is properly aligned on the posts before you start to trim cases.
3)To insert a case, press down on the case holder handle (Very Firmly)and place the rim of the case between the shell holder and the face of the case holder.  Photo#5.  Release pressure on the handle and the case will be securely held in position for trimming.

Observation:  When I was first assembling the trimmer, I was putting the case holder on backwards (letting facing in) and would not hold the case tight.That should do it!  Good Luck.

Speaking of mounting this thing, what I done was since I don't have that big of a bench and don't have room for everything to be mounted on it what I done was I found a piece of two by four which is slightly longer then the case trimmer itself and I mounted it to this, this works good for me. It makes my trimmer more moble it sits on the end of my bench until I need it and it gives me enough leverage to press the handle down firm enough to insert my case. But, if I had a big work area and brench I would mount it to the bench. I have been also thinking about getting the motor attachment for it, gettin lazy I suppose. :wink:
