i have just got a lee 500r mold. with a 22 to one mix i get a 508grn bullet, tried it at the range to day i sure am glad i got it my buff classic loves it .the load is 70grn fff goex .025 card over powder one ragged hole5 shots at 100 meters of x sticks.i tried at 200 meters 5 shots one and half inch. so you with buff classics try this mold $ 13.75 from track of the wolf, its not a lot to pay for a good mold bernie
I was just wondering how in the world you got 70gr FFFg and a .025 card wad in that case, and was still able to get a bullet to seat?
Was that weight, or volume?
Did you "drop tube", or vibrate the case?
What case was you using?
I don't doubt but what you did. And, I'm not trying to be a "smarty pants".
I just really want to know how you did it.
Even with a 30" drop tube, and a
real slow pour, I can only get about 66 / 67gr. and I can't seat the 500R bullet w/o damage to the ogive.
I also don't have the Buff Classic either. I suspect it may have a longer throat that lets you seat the bullet farther out.
Did you chronograph the load?
If you can 1200fps (+/-) with that load, and you have the right sights, that should make a very fine 500mtr load.
