It is photobucket that you're dealing with.

Here's a GUESS.  I'll bet it works when you're logged in with photobucket.  The warning I get is that the file is not found.

I think there is a different set of code that you have to copy from photobucket to put into your post.  I think you've got a link that works when you're logged in.

Guesses.  I've never dealt with photobucket.

Photobucket works great for me. When you want to post a picture, they give you three choices of code to use. Simply copy the line that's titled "IMG" and paste it into your message here on GB. It's good to go at that point and nothing else needs to be done.


Example: Night fire with a pair of 6-pounders.

I tried to work it also and no luck, Bob, try edit your post.  Delete the link to the img and recopy the URL over from Photobucket.

Yep, I've been utilizing the PhotoBucket.  NOW, I do know my mistake.  I thought that once the photo has been MOVED from PhotoBucket and is posted on the Black Powder Mortar/Cannon forum, I could then delete the picture for the PB since it wasn't needed anymore.  Wrong!  Now, someone please tell me the recommended amount of time that I must leave the selected pix in PB before they can be deleted? I really don't know how many I can have accumulated in PB before it becomes a problem of being saturated..  Advice will be appreciated.  Thanks. Blaster

On the PhotoBucket questions, the maximum number of pictures you can have on their free service at any given time is dependent on the average size of your pictures. You are allowed a total of 25 megabytes of disk space which is approximately 500 images if your average picture size is 50K, 250 pictures if your average picture size is 100K. PhotoBucket automatically resizes any pictures bigger than 250K, so you will always have room for at least 100 pictures. Also, you are allowed 1,500 megabytes of bandwidth per month. This is approximately 15,000 to 30,000 direct links a month, again dependent on picture size. You can check out your stats by clicking on account options..

As far as how long to keep a linked picture in your album, thatÂ’s obviously a choice you have to make. IÂ’ve observed a lot of newbies who have discovered this gold mine of a forum and poured through its 600+ posts. ItÂ’s really nice to see the many outstanding pictures that accompany these posts. If you start running out of room, you can delete some of your oldest pictures first. That way, your pictures are available for everyone to enjoy for the maximum amount of time.

Why not have multiple hosting sites for your pictures. I have at least 3 different hosting sites but prefer "hunt 101" as it is the easiest, by far to work with.

I gave up on the free sites a long time ago.  To many pictures to post and there is no free lunch.  Hunt 101 always had to put there logo on my pictures. A couple of the others have died.

Since 2001 I have used www.fottime.com. It cost me $23.95 a year.  I get 4.88Gb of monthly bandwith.  I have used 1008.58MB this month.  I get 500MB of storage. I have used 183.43 MB. That is 1474 pictures.  They are fairly simple to use. For an additional fee they will store videos

If I were to go to another subscription service I think Ii would give a Photobucket's pay service a  good hard look over.  Especially with the way they set up links.

[IMG] you do not have to click on the Img button in the reply window.  Just paste in as you have copied it from Photobucket.  Everything you need for coding is already there.
