Where to get Anschutz 54.18 Sil
« on: May 25, 2005, 06:30:00 PM »
I'm trying to get started in SB Silhouette and can't find an Anschutz 54.18 Silhouette gun. Does anyone know who has these in stock? I was told Anschutz is making big changes in their offerings and the Champion's SS folks said they may or may not get more guns depending on Anschutz.

I'll take advise on other choices or sources.

Thanks, Dino

Dino, talking to one of the Anschutz big wheels at the Shot Show early this year I found out that they are not going to manufacture any more "Silhouette" rifles because their sales do not warrant bothering with them.

He told me that we could still buy the different barreled actions they make and then buy a fiber glass stock from somebody like McMillan.

Champion's Choice still list some silhouette rifles but they are kind of pricey.

Check their barreled actions and you will find an ANS 54.18MSR-U3 FOR 1808 STOCK, BARRELED ACTION (RIGHT) for $1267 then put a wanted add for a stock, Dave Imas had one for sale back in April for a very reasonable price.

Anschutz Barreled Action 54.18 MSR (Metallic silhouette Repeater). Barrel Leng... more info...

Wow Tony...  I didn't realize they were getting out of the Silhouette game.  I guess that says something about our lack of new shooters...
(i sold my stock)

Look at what Mark Pharr's putting together on Ultra-Light actions and his stocks.
Anschutz is good equipment but they aren't the only answer.

Dave,
Did you get my email?

Hello,
My local gunshop has a fiberglass TH stocked 54.18 (repeater) w/ a 6-20 leupold (dot reticle), also has bloop tube and weight.  I looked at it just the other day. It's in excellent condition.  It is right around 2K as is.
I am in Alb., NM.  The shop is called Ron Peterson's 505-255-8695.

I don't work for Ron's or anything like that..just passing along the info.

thanks
dean

I got the last non-thumbhole 54.18 MSR from Champion's Choic

About a month ago. Its a magnificent rifle. French walnut stock with black stippling. Just shoots great and has the best trigger I've ever felt. They still have the thumhole version for around 1900 bucks but once they are gone thats it for the 53 "supermatch repeater" actions. Get 'em while they are hot! Anschutz is going to just go with the 1712 version as their silhouette gun. I'm a new shooter to silhouette so there is one new one out here! I shoot both cowboy and smallbore rifle and hunting rifle. I can't find much info on what is the BEST .22 ammo to use, so I just ordered a brick of Eley Silhouette and I'll see how it does. Adios!

We met at Phoenix.  Did you get your 54.18 yet?  Shot it?  Are you posting any photos of the match?  Drop in and tell us all about it.  We're all fanatics too.

Per an email response from Anschutz this week, they are not getting out of the silhouette rifle business.  They are discontinuing the 54.18 MSR but they are (and will continue) making the 1808 and the barreled actions.

Champion Shooters just received some 1808's but as of today they are down to one remaining at $1750.
