Author Topic: Any positive,encouraging words about Remington 7400's ? (Read 1056 times)

:cry: Well, I guess I stepped in it. I bought a Remington 7400 in o6 off the internet from Las Vegas. I know you guys told me not to but it was all I cound afford and looks brand new.
I have a Bar carbine and I shot it this afternoon, Wow ! it impresses me every time, how about a i" group at 200 yds !
Anyway I know the Remington won't do this, but I would be happy if I could hit a gallon milk jug at 200 yds. Please say something good about the 7400 so I can sleep tonight. I Don't reload for myauto's so I will have to find a decent 150 grn factory load to shoot. (it doesn't matter what I put in the Bar, it just shoots, must have shot : over a 100 deer with it) :cry:

I know many people who hunt in Maine that use the 7400 with great results.

If the BAR is so much better and had served you so well, why'd you buy the Remington? Sounds like you had a bad opinion of the 7400 before you even bought it...?

Don't worry about it. You should have no problem hitting a milk jug at 200. Keep the chamber clean and feed it Remington Core Lokt and it will shoot fine. It probably won't get 1" at 100 groups, but will probably get 2" or under. Worst case, sell it and get your money back out of it.

If you're ever up the creek without a paddle your 7400 would serve perfectly, just hold the barrel and start paddling. :wink:

I bought my 7400 in .30/06 at the age of 18 (my first rifle) back in 1986. I've never had a problem with it and it's success in the hunting field is 100%. Okay, I've only shot at an animal with it 6 times but all 6 were taken home with 1 shot, from hogs in the FL Everglades to exotics in west TX. It's had a lot of range time though. I like it. But maybe I'm in the minority, or so I'm told.

Has anyone had any experience with this company and 7400 work?

A few of the boys at the hunting camp have the auto and the pump. Two of the older fellows have had the rifles for a long time and shot a lot of game over the years.
What they tell me . Shoot remington factory bullets and you never have a problem.

Finally shot the 7400 a few days ago. I was very pleased. No problems at all . With 150 grn Remington corlock I managed a 3 shot 1" group then set out milk jugs at 150,200,250and 300 yds. Killed them all with one shot.
I lasered the distance from my stand to various shooting spots and none were ove 231 yds, most less. So I should be good to go, except I shake a lot lately and must really concentrate.
