Will they fit?
« on: June 21, 2005, 11:50:30 AM »
I just got a screamin deal on a set of express sights for my Model 83.

I also got a great deal on a set of take-offs "Rosewood laminate" grips off another Model 83.

Will the rosewood laminates fit on my Field Grade model 83?

FA factory hand fits the grips to each gun---but the grips should fit since the model 83's all have the same grip frame---by the way, the express sights work great!  pg

Thanks for the reply.

The Express sights and the grips will be here tomorrow.

I also am expecting a package with a Freedom Arms 22 Mini and buckle on Thursday, complete with case, holster and an extra set of Ivory grips for the little buckle gun.

Thought it would be a nice companion with my Model 83 gunbelt.

Sir, If you don't mind where did you get your buckle from, Did it come from Freedom Arms, I know this is a stupid question but i have never seen any thing on their web site. I have a mini revolver and would like to get one to replace the one that was stolen from me years ago. Thanks.........Joe..........

I purchased the buckle and gun from GunBroker.com, there are usually several on the auction sites.

I have even seen the buckle a few times but it is usually with the mini revolver.

The way I hear it is that when the model 83 and 97 really took off they "Freedom Arms" stopped production of the mini and focused on the huge task of making these incredible revolvers.

The one I purchased came with the leather case, leather holster, buckle, all the papers and an extra pair of grips in "ivory"

I have to say not all model 83s have the same grip frame , When they changed from the frame with the nut holding the main spring they also changed the shape of the gripframe . I have talked with FA about this .

I found that out by trial and error, they didn't fit.

The guy that sold them to me was nice enough to offer a refund and I am very appreciative!

Geez---didn't mean to mislead----Both of my 83's had the same frame---and they were made several years apart----glad you were not stuck with grips you couldn't use----for future reference, does anybody have the serial number series when the change occurred?  :(  pg

I did not get a answer to the question as to when the change came, I have thought of offering a oversize grip blank in various materials that the end user would fit to thir frame but Have not started producing the blanks as of yet . I have only made the pattern to fit my older FA 83s
