UPDATE ON 223
« on: July 04, 2005, 03:51:16 AM »
Hi. I got a new 223 Rossi and posted my results a short while ago. I took the rifle to a gun smith to smooth up the trigger. I had talked about thinking the barrel was a lined affair. It is NOT!  It is a one piece barrel. The lathe work in turning down the barrel on my gun just left a place that looked like a joint with a sharp edge. The target crown is also diffrent than most rifles. The cut does not come out to the edge of the barrel as far as most target crowns. I was wrong about the barrel being a lined barrel. I also wanted to comment on how dirty and heavily greased the inner workings of the gun were when I took it apart. There was so much grease I could not believe it. I know the gun will work better without that heavy dirty grease.

Probably have them greased and oiled heavy due to shipments from south america. All that salt air in shipment plus they probably have to sit in a customs warehouse on the coast for who knows how long before they are released into the distribution chain.
