Marlin 1898 shotgun ???

Just picked one up for fixing another one, and was wanting some info. I am NOT going to shoot it, just want to know model, year of manufacture, etc. Has the older style takedown button, 12ga, tang is not marked, has patent date of 1894, 1896, and again in 1896. SN# 459xx

Dalton,
Per Flayderman'e Guide;
Model 1898 was made c. 1898-1905.  Total qty, est. at 55,000.  
The markings you give are correct for this model.
