Just got my FA 475
« on: July 01, 2005, 01:55:58 PM »
Just got my FA 475. I bought it used from a guy on another web site. Its a field grade with the following upgrades: 5 1/2" barrel, adj. express sites, 4 port magnaport, action job with set screw, and black micarta grips. The guy also included 130 rounds of ammo, snap caps(FA), RCBS dies, leupold base and rings. It was all like new best off was the price. He let everything go for $1000 and he paid the shipping. I am pleased. I took it to the range and it shoots  as good as it looks. The recoil was about what I expected. Very similar to my FA 454. May just have to find me a place close to go shoot a hog and try this thing out.

I knew that it was a good price. I couldn't let the Mississippi hitman have one  and me not have one. I'm about ready to get rid of all my rugers and get a few more FA's.

Good job finding an excellent deal.

The 475 is my favorite handgun caliber, hence my avatar. You also received a good list of options and accessories. I highly recommend Hornady dies as opposed to RCB’s. The nitride coating used on the Hornady dies allows things to work smoothly with a fraction of the case lube required for the RCB’s dies I previously used.

If you reload and use a Dillon 550B the currently listed shell plate was designed for cut down 45/70 brass and not for caliber specific brass offered from Hornady or other mfg’s. If this is an issue for you, when you order a caliber conversion kit tell them you are using factory brass and not cutting down 45/70 brass and they will substitute the proper shell plate.

Take Care,
Scott

Sixgunner,

You sorry rascal!  Congrats on a very good deal and I hope you enjoy your .475 as much I do mine.  I guess there's not a safe emu in GA now is there?  I concur with Scott on the Hornady dies.
