Author Topic: Ultra Hunter Barrel vrs Ultra Varmint Barrel ? (Read 578 times)

Hello members: Can anyone comment on the difference between the "regular" Ultra barrel and the bull barrel on the Ultra Varmint model? I am curious because the barrel on my .308 Hunter is the heaviest/thickest of any firearm I own and I have a hard time imagining that the bull barrel version could be any heavier/thicker. Thanks.

Welcome Aboard

Bull barrels are always thicker and heavier...they have less taper to them from the breech to the muzzle...go over to Walmart and see if they have any in stock...see if they will let you look at 1...if you really want to see thick and heavy...while your at Walley World...see if they will bring out a H&R SB2-988 12 ga. Ultra Slug Hunter... :lol:

Welcome to the forum. The Varmint only comes in bull barreled versions of the 223, 243, 22Mag(22"), and the fluted versions in 223, 22-250, and 204.
These have 24" bull barrels-less the 22Mag.
The Hunter ones are in 22" (less the 25-06 and 280-these are 26")
and not full bull barrels, though heavy, yes.

Yup, the .204 Ruger Handi is a 22" bull barrel, also! :wink:
