model 700 bdl 243

I just got a model 700 bdl in 243 for 250.00 real clean.Less thin one box of shells shot out of it and never had a scope on it. Like to set it up for varmints and wish to put a Leupold on it lr or the BC in a 4x12. Just putting it out there to see if this is a good set up. I always wish I did it different after the fact. So any feedback or opinions will help. By the way I hunt in Florida and are varmints range from small hogs,coons and some coyotes.

If it's really a BDL not an ADL and in really nice shape you got a steal in the price on it.

I prefer to set up most of my Remington rifles using Weaver bases and Burris Signature Zee rings. The ONLY other combination I use on mine are the Burris or Leupold Dual Dovetail base and normally signature rings to match from Burris. It is OK to mix or match Burris and Leupold as the Burris rings fit both bases fine. But on light recoiling rounds like the .243 I'd use the Weaver/zee ring set up.

Heck, for $250, it's a good deal whether it's an ADL or BDL.  I like the Weaver bases and style rings as well.  I think that I'd probably go with a 3-9 or 3-10 scope myself, but that's me.  I don't like messing with scopes with adjustable objectives/parallax adjustments unless I really have to.

Thanks guys,I was thinking on the same lines and on the same power on the scope. I'll take my time on this in do it wright. I have to say it was a great deal, one of my customers. He asked his kids if they wanted them and they did not so he gave me a real sweet deal.I got the Remington 243 a Savage 222 w/ an old time scope on it and a Winchester old style 30/30 and a Springfield 22 bolt all for $ 600.00.A good friend went with me and he got an old schuetzen 22 hornet and a Winchester old bolt target with  old antique scopes on them for $1200.00 . He has several shotguns and about six more rifles he is going hold on to for now.But said he will get rid of latter and I am first on his list.

I'd consider the Bushnell 3200 Elite 4-12X40.  It's one nice piece of glass.
