« on: January 12, 2005, 06:13:22 PM »
I want to buy a highbanker/dredge for this summe and am thinging of a 1 1/2" or a 2".  Since I usually do everything alone, it has to be light.

So any dredgers out there with a good unit?

Best highbanker/dredge combo?

I had a Proline 2" high banker dredge combo and loved it.  As a high banker it was great, found a lot of gold, but the streams we were working here in Northern Cal. were too large for a non floating dredge so I ended up selling it.  They do make the floats for it, but then it makes it almost the size of a 4", so why not use a 4" and that's what I did.  I bought a used Proline 4" and ran it for 2 years with good results, so I figured bigger is better and last year I bought a brand new Keen 6".  Of course work messed me up last year so I only got to take it out once for 2 days, but I did find almost 1/8 oz of fines and that was just in over burden.  Never reached the bedrock.  This year I'm planing on a couple of week long trips, so hopefully I can see what it can do.  I think the build quality of the Prolines are better than the Keens, but The Keens are better for fine gold recovery.  Hope this helps.
No, I'm not you typical Californian.  :sniper:

I found a deal I could not refuse.  I bought a Proline 2 1/2 highbanker/dredge combo on Ebay for only $1200.  It still has the hoses wraped up and the motor is still in the box with no gas in it.

Haven't tried it yet but might be able to get out next week.
