how do you guys like the 375 winchester for hunting deer sized game?how is it compaired to the other heavy hitters?

I'm wondering the same thing myself. I just picked up a 21" carbine .375 barrel for my Contender, and I'm looking forward to using it this season. I would imagine the results will be excellent, and would probably be comparable to a .35 Remington.

The .375 WCF is about equivalent to the .35 Remington when handloaded. It is a fine deer/black dear handgun cartridge, and although appropriate bullet selection is rather slim there are enough to do about anything this cartridge is capable of. Some published data for the Contender indicates it is possible to exceed .35 Remington performance slightly, while other data (Sierra) shows the two to be identical. Regardless, 100 fps is not significant, and the two are for practrical purposes the same. A .375 handgun or carbine is a fine hunting arm.

Since its just a strengthened 30-30 case necked up to 375. good all around cartridge. May end up with a carbine barrel some day if i can check out the recoil first to see if its in my relm of "doability". I do like the looks and spec's of the cartridge.

I had a 14" tube with no brake that was a great shooter.The 200 grain Sierra soft point is a good deer bullet but a 220 grain bullet was alot more accurate in my gun.I would still have it today but I shipped it to T/C for a stripped hole repair and they scrapped it and THEN called me and asked what I wanted in exchange.I took a 375 JDJ which I really like but I still miss that 375 Winny.

I have a ported 14" 375 Winchester barrel for my Contender. It is a great deer gun with 220 Grain Hornady bullets. I use the same bullet in a Marlin 375 lever gun. The 375 is a much better hunting cartridge than many people know. Join the club, you'll love it!
