RWS Mod 50
« on: August 24, 2005, 08:04:34 AM »
Gentlemen,

I have a RWS mod. 50  T 01,  single shot, underlever, cal. 177 air rifle.

this is a big heavy adult size pellet gun. I purchased it twenty or so years ago from a sporting goods store in Selma, Alabama (Walter Craig) I don't think they are still in business. If I'm not mistaken the rifle was 65-70 dollars at the time.
It is very powerful, will shoot through half inch plywood consistantly.
It has been shot less than 50-60 times as I still have the original box of pellets that came with it and it is nearly full, but I ain't gonna count 'em.
I have'nt seen this gun advertised for a long time and was wondering if it is out of production or what?
it has the standard open sights, plus a scope rail with a Beeman peep sight mounted on it.
   any information would be appreciated.

That gun is a Diana 50 T01, discontinued in 1987. There were several model 50s made over the years. TO1 refers to the trigger design used on this particular variant.  It is an under lever spring gun with a Mannlicher type full stock with Schnabel fore end. The model 50 should shoot in the upper 600s in .177.

Heres another variant, the Winchester 450 made in the late 60s/early 70s

thanks Dave,
the photo looks like my rifle, with the exception of having protective ears on the front sight ( like a M1 Garand) uncheckered grip and no cheekpiece.

    TTC

Is the Diana and RWS manufactured by the same company?

Rws/Diana guns are made by Mayer & Grammelspacher Dianawerk GmbH in Rastatt Germany. RWS is part of Dynamit-Noble, a world wide distributor of shooting supplies. In the US, RWS has been the sole source of Dianawek air rifles for many years.

Your gun was made some years later than mine, and is a slghtly different external design, but internally they are pretty much the same.
