Day three of the NRA Hunter Pistol Championships at the McKean County Rifle Club saw a big rush by Texans. Rimfire shooters from Texas took the top three spots for both Small Bore Open Sight Hunter Pistol and also for Scoped Small Bore Hunter Pistol. In the Open Sight match Preston Gibson continued to dominate the field by winning the daily match by firing a 51 out of 60, Gibson has won all three daily matches in Open sight competition. Runner-up was David Hassinger only two targets back at 49, and rounding out the top three is Doug Randel at 48.
In the scope match the top spot went to Larry Allen. Allen earned the first place laurels by firing a 55 on the first day of Small Bore scope competition. Lurking only one target back is Mark Sternglanz who took second with a 54. David Hassinger also is applying pressure on the top spots with a 53 good enough for the third place spot.
Preston Gibson also has a lead that will be tough to beat in the four gun aggregate. Gibson is leading the pack with a day three total of 316 over Aubrey Adcock, of Virginia who is in second with a 304.
The Championships will wind up Thursday at the MCRC range when shooting will kick off at 8 a.m
