17 aguila in 17 mach 2 chamber??
« on: August 29, 2005, 02:31:17 PM »
hey guys. im gettin ready for squirrel season and i realized that my 17 mach 2 is just gonna blow up my squirrels and there wont be much meat left. so heres my situation. i have a ruger 10/22 converted to 17 mach 2 by using the E. Arthur Brown Company (EABCO) 17 mach 2 bull barrel and their heavy bolt handle kit. will my set up be able to safely and accurately fire the more game friendly 17 aguila or is this not safe and proven not accurate?? any help suggestions or experiences appreciated! thanks,
joseph

You can shoot the 17Aguila in a 17M2 chamber, whether it will cycle the action, I dunno.

Around where I am from in Georgia, the Aguila round is about
$3.00 a box more expensive!
That makes my choice for me. Besides, Aim at the eyeball

The 17HM2 is not that explosive on squirrels.  I killed a few last year with one.  I intentionally shot a cat squirrel through the chest at 35yds just to see what it WOULD do.  Since I didn't hit the spine I had no trouble skinning the squirrel and no meat was lost.  I think the M2 is THE perfect small game round.  Give it a try first.

Just bought a 500 round brick just for that very purpose.
Hopefully that will mean at least 499 rabbits, squirrels
and crows....I did allow myself a miss
