Fix for Taurus revolver Hammer chopping at the frame???
« on: July 16, 2005, 03:26:55 AM »
My 431's hammer is slowly chopping away at the right side of the frame at the intersection of the frame and side plate as the hammer falls. It seems that the hammer travel is not centered in the slot or perhaps there is too much slop between the pin and pivot hole in the hammer causing it to drop at a slight angle. I have seen other posts in this forum from individuals observing the same thing on their Taurus revolvers so it would seem to be a chronic and/or design issue. Has anyone either fixed this themselves or had their local 'smith take care of it? If so what was the fix?

I know it could go back to Taurus and that is one option but the shipping costs alone are an hour of the local 'smiths time...

Check your warranty for your Taurus, and make sure that whatever your smith does doesn't VOID your warranty! That could be a problem down the road..
