Trigger Job ?

I'am about to send my reciever back to be fitted with a 45/70 and 7mm-08 barrel. My question is before i ask to have the trigger pull reduced, what will they set it at ? Right now it's about 3 1/4 lb. Thanx.**************ogo

I don't know what they'll set it at, but they will polish it up so it breaks cleaner. 3.5 pounds seems like a decent pull to me. I wish mine were lighter. :?

I'm not sure what they would set it at.  :?  I've done a trigger job on my 223 and just recently my 44 mag. the 223 was horrible until i got finsihed with it. went from about 5 pounds to 2 pounds.

I went alittle to far on my 44 mag. It was good to start with but i love a light trigger. It went from 3 pounds to 1 pound.

I asked for a trigger job on my BC frame when I sent it in for a 45-70 BC barrel, it was 3 lbs-15oz when I sent it in, it came back the same....I believe they won't touch it if it's already below 5lbs, those that I have sent in and they did a trigger job on were well in excess of 5lbs to begin with.

When I sent my Ultra 223 in for a 45-70 barrel I asked for a trigger job.  It was over five pounds when they got it, and set at exactly 3.5 pounds when I got it back.

I've done several trigger jobs on these guns, and you can get it below that safely, but I don't like to take them below three pounds (I don't know why, just one of those things I guess :lol: )

That being said...My 204 Ruger is set at 2.25 lbs and breaks like a glass rod.

Hands on myself. 223 ultra went from 8 lbs. down to 2.5 lbs. Didn't take long either.

Yup, I do all my own myself unless I'm sending one in for a barrel, then I let them work on it for free......if they'll touch it! 8)

i guess i don't pay that much attention to my triggers..i just squeeze until it goes pop.....to me my trigger felt good....but not sure on the weight of it.....when people mention no creep and breaking clean..does that mean you don;t have to pull it a little bit with some resistance before the hammer falls?  also someone told me that since marlin bought HandR all the new ultra rifles have a better marlin trigger in them..is this true??

The only thing that Marlin has to do with H&R/NEF is they own them!! The triggers in the Ultras are the same as those in the Handis....whoever told you that didn't know what they were talking about. Triggers have improved over the last year or so, in general, they used to be 5-7lbs or more sometimes, but apparently H&R/NEF has decided to lighten them a bit since they were getting a lot back with requests for free trigger jobs. Creep is the amount of movement of the trigger before it breaks, and breaking crisply is desireable for good trigger control, specially with the transfer bar safety.
