shot the WWB 45gr. HP this past weekend. they shot okay, but my rest was not the best set up. averaged about 1.25-1.5" @ 100yds. has anyone had any luck with the 40gr. nosler BT? i'm thinking about giving them a try. the hornady 50gr. v-max shoot fairly well in my gun (1" or less). still working on the velocity of them though. i'm only getting about 3100fps with 25.5 gr. of H335 right now. any suggestions? i'd really like to try the 40gr. nosler BTs but have heard mixed accuracy results on them.

The Ultramax reman 40gr Nosler BT shoots real good in my Ultra Varmint, almost as good as the WWB 45gr JHP which shoots approx ½moa.

How many rounds do you have thru it so far??

My 223 Ultra shoots WWB 45gr Varmint poorly too, about 1.25-1.5 inches at 100 yards.

But it LOVES Ultramax 52gr HP remanufactured ($14/box of 50), Ultramax 40gr NBT remanufactured($20/box of 50), and Black Hills 40gr NBT remanufactured($21/box of 50).  Each of these shoots under about 0.5" at 100 yards.  I get a lot of groups in the 0.4's too.  

I shot about 400 ground squirrels last month, most of them in one day.  I just used the 40gr NBT and it did a fantastic job!  I got quite a few launches on video.  It's good ammo.

As a general rule, mine seems to like the flat based bullets better than the boat tail bullets.  I don't know if the Nosler 40 grainers are a boat tail design, but I know that the 55 grain pills are.  

I have been shooting mostly 40 and 50 grain V Max bullets out of my Ultra.  I know it will shoot the 50 grainers good, and it seems to like the 40 grainers equally, but I haven't shot them as much as the 50's.  

You might try the V Max bullets.  They seem to shoot as good as the Nosler products, and they're cheaper.  They seem to come apart better too.

where can i get the ultramax stuff? i sure would like a little better accuracy though. i have about 150 round thru my rifle so far. the trigger is pretty decent. i've cleaned by base up real good and retightened it and the scope rings. i've floated my barrel with the o-ring, but had some movement in the stock which caused poi changes so i made me a little spacer that cradles the barrel at the rear of the forearm, just past that metal curved piece which is attached to the stock. i've gotten 3/4" groups a couple of times, but normally its around 1-1.25" groups for me and my handi. i use sandbags to rest the forearm on as well.

Sportsmans Warehouse has the Black Hills and Ultramax ammo for $18.99 per 50.....Cabelas carries the Ultramax....

My favorite load for PD's is 25 grains of Varget with a 50 gr Hornady Soft Point Super Explosive (SPSX). It's accurate and really does a number on them (As in nuttin but chunks). :)

My next favorite is the Amax or Vmax bullets. If  you don't know, the difference is the Amaxes are boat tails.

Cabela's has Ultramax and Black Hills.  

NBT's are boat tailed ballistic tipped bullets.  

A boat tail is NOT the only difference between the A-Max and the V-Max.  There are structural differences as well.

Mine likes the 40 gr. moly V max's over 26.5 grs. of H 335,anything else shoots 1" and over. Digger

Ditchdigger, you and I are the same page here.  My best load is the 40 gr VMax over  26.3 gr of H335.  I haven't tried the molys though.  I get best  results with a CCI Magnum primer.
