i went to the gunshop to see em and drop off the scopes to be mounted..and i looked and about 3/4 of the way down the 223 barrel there is a nick in the outside!  uugghh thats so annoying.....it's going to irritate me yes but is it really worth sending it back in to be fixed?  i cringe at the thought of calling that lady again...and i guess my next question is..will they actually do something about it or would i be wasting my time?

Is it worth sending it back in for a nick on the outside of the barrel?..Well.. for me...that would depend on how bad the nick was...is it something that can be covered by using a little cold blueing to it?..The NEF's aren't known for having the best bluing jobs on them in the first place...and they have been known for some rough handling in their shipping department...if it bothers you enough...call or e-mail them and discuss it with them..

The target doesn't care what your gun looks like.  I say group test it first and if it doesn't give good groups, you've now got two reasons to send it back.
Just my Awf Hand comments...

If you decide you can't live with it, take a good pic of it and email it to them with your request to have them fix it, ask for a call tag or for them to reimburse you for shipping. Worked for me when they buggered a BC stock coming back with a new barrel.

well the guy that i bought the gun from at the gunshop and who also mounted all of my scopes on the barrels....took the scope off of the 223 and is going to ship it back with a note stating it wasn't there when the gun was sent in and if they could do anything it would be appreciated.....it's ok to send it in for a while i guess...at least i have the 308 and 270uc to play with now......except the 223 is the cheapest to shoot!

Hope it turns out well for ya 870. While not as cheap as your 223, you might want to check out this:

Pretty cheap 308 rounds here. also check out the PMP stuff there, around $8 or so a box. Not bad for some cheaper than normal plinking.

:)  Have a little slag hanging off them inside? Yeah So did I.
I just took a small brass cleaning brush after them. Work it back and for a few times in the hole and they should fall out.

I use pipe cleaners or an old tooth brush on both of mine, they're kind of a pain to clean, but it works. If you can remove the brake, it will make it easier...some of em will unscrew easily. Brake cleaner or Gun Scrubber will also help clean em.
