After looking at the 2005 line-up of 870's, I am wanting to configure a  custom combo. I am really liking the thumbhole stock on the 870 SPT, which as I read the catalog, is only available in 12 ga, and I want a 20 ga. If I get an Express Synthetic Combo and change out the stock and forearm, I would be satisfied(I am not worried about the receiver and barrel not being camo). I figured I would ask you guys here since the general opinion of Remingtons customer service is really lacking.

P.S.
The website says that police attachments will not fit civilian model 870s, any other sources for personal defense accessories?

Delta Force and other tactical companies usually have good rigs for an 870 personal defense gun.

The stocks and forearms of all 870's should be (pretty sure I'd bet my life on it) the same. As long as you keep the original receiver and barrel, you should be able to interchange stocks and forearms forever.

Hope this helped. :D

I think Remington makes three different sizes of 870 receivers. One for 12 ga., one for 20 ga. and one for 28 ga. and .410 bore. Don't think stocks or fore ends from one size will fit properly on the other sizes.

Well, it looks as if it is it is a tossup as if this is a doable project. Perhaps more investigation/discussion is needed. Since I have not owned an 870, so I have no experience to base any speculation on. I do like the thumbhole stock in the 2005 catalog, just want to put one on a new 20ga instead of a 12 ga super magnum. I think it would be a nice looking item with the thumbhole stock and matching forearm on a non camo receiver and barrel, aside from the handiness(sp) of the thumbhole stock.
I would be interested possibly in finding out a vendor for a thumbhole stock and matching forearm for the future project.

Thanks to you guys for your response
